When things are not cluttered and weighing on us, we are much happier. Which leads to an interesting observation. Parents with children are often very concerned with creating a good space for their kids to complete their homework, and projects. Yet, adults tend to minimize the importance of establishing a space to handle the family finances, and organize important paperwork. Instead, most of us do not have a predetermined scheduled time in which to handle these important, but often burdensome tasks. But, once a quasi home office has been created and a process to complete the work in place, the thought of it does not cause such great distaste.
By laying the ground work, with a designate area, and a system in place a large part of the work will not have to be replicated each time you finally get around to handling the stuff. This does not mean that you need a whole room, or even a desk completely dedicated to your home organization. All you need is to be consistent in place and time as to when you complete the necessary job. That may mean calculating the household budgets, or sorting bills for utilities like electricity and water. It could include paying rent, any security (ADT) costs and arranging payment for hired help. Keeping all of these kinds of papers and forms in the same place will make things easier. And, some sort of filling system that has a place of its own to call home. Plus, this will show your children that you practice what you preach, and are happier for it.
